This is a DCW Dining Chair in birch, initially designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1946. This is an ultra-rare, early example that was produced by the Evans Plywood Company circa 1948. The chair retains its original Evans label, and has both ebonized and natural birch tones.
The piece measures 20.5 inches deep, 19.5 inches wide, and 29 inches high. The seat height is 18 inches. There is a patinated finish on the wood that gives a nice definition to the grain. There is some age evident on the original screws and hardware, and there is some fading to the finish. Overall, this chair is in good vintage condition with some signs of time. Please see photos.
